Leisure Village is a Planned Unit Development (PUD) of 2136 single-story units set in an area just over 450 acres. It is governed by an elected Board of Directors that is advised  by an extensive committee network of property owners, and which sets policies that are carried out  by a paid staff of over 100 under the day-to-day direction of a hired General Manager and her staff.

 

Leisure Village is a secure community with access through three sentry-operated gates. The Gate Operators are part of an extensive Village-run Safety and Security team overseen by a Chief of Security. In addition to security duties each Officer of the team is fully trained and certified as a First Responder for medical emergencies.

 

Leisure Village receives its water from the Camrosa Water District. Our approximately 180 acres of lawns and other planted areas are all Common Areas and are irrigated with re-claimed water as a result of a project co-created by Camrosa and the Village, resulting in considerable savings and putting less demand on our potable water supply.

 

Common Areas are owned by the Association and the Association is owned by the property owners as share-holders. The Village governing documents include: Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions (CC&Rs), By-Laws, Articles of Incorporation, and Rules and Regulations. (These documents are posted elsewhere on this website.) Leisure Village is an age-restricted, senior housing development as defined by State Civil Code 51.3 and the Federal Fair Housing Act. Association residents must be 55 years or older.

 

Construction of these all-electric homes began in 1973 and was completed in 1984. Maintenance, upgrading and improvement of the common areas and amenities is an ongoing process.

 

Leisure Village is located in Camarillo on California's coastal plain mid-way between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. There is easy and convenient access to Route 101, which is the main highway between those two cities.  Blessed with a nearly ideal climate  year round, residents can easily enjoy a variety of activities within the Village or in the delightful community of Camarillo.  Regular, daily coastal railway service is available at the Camarillo Rail Station. A free bus service is available to take Leisure Village residents to shopping areas of Camarillo.

 

Shopping of all types is available in Camarillo, including one of California's largest and most popular Outlet Malls. Medical professionals & facilities are available nearby. St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital is only three miles from the Village.
